This Mobil gas station replaced the Montlake Drive-In Market, which was torn down in 1949. This gas station was in turn torn down in 1969. The lot had a professional building from 1981 until 2007. A large mixed-use building is currently under construction.
I wrote an article about the first building on Capitol Hill Seattle blog, <a href="http://www.capitolhillseattle.com/2016/02/chs-retake-ice-cream-beer-and-the-montlake-drive-in-public-market/">www.capitolhillseattle.com/2016/02/chs-retake-ice-cream-b...</a>
This photo appears in my roundup of assessor's photos of Seattle's drive-in markets, <a href="http://ba-kground.com/car-architecture-seattle-photos/">ba-kground.com/car-architecture-seattle-photos/</a>
